On the Road to Mastering Facebook

Facebook allows you to "update your status", which essentially posts a message, ad, photo(s), link, and a variety of many other things to a news feed which is mutually shared with your Facebook friends.  Sometimes these status updates receive no attention, but other times people can comment, share on someone else's or their own news feed, or like your update.  The status bar also allows you to tag in a post your other Facebook friends, an event, and a specific venue.  The status bar also allows you to share your location, emoji, and you can also regulate the privacy settings of your post.
The above screenshot is the Facebook page feed.  Just like personal Facebook accounts, certain commercial entities, organizations, causes, and institutions can have their own accounts as well.  If you like their page you will  automatically be subscribed to their event and message updates.  Pages are generally public and are considered a great way to advertise or spread awareness for the intent of the page.  Facebook offers it's page users to boost their posts for a cost, which can allow your page to reach people outside of your friend circle.  Personal accounts that like pages can also post to them as well unless the admin of the page kicks them out.
Similar to pages, Facebook also offers groups.  Facebook Groups tend to be more specific about something rather than pages that tend to be more broad.  People like to use groups for private party invitation, letting people know they lost their number, and many other purposes.  Groups tend not to be public, the privacy settings tend to be controlled by the admin(s).  Groups can also be used for internal collaboration for teams, companies, and school projects.
Every personal account has their own Facebook profile.  The profile has access to the users pictures, personal data, their status updates, personal interests, pages they have liked, who their friends are, and links to your other media applications.  Facebook is the medium for almost everyone's online identity.  Facebook profiles can also privately message each other, their is also a timeline of your activity, and you can regulate what other see and what they do not.
Facebook's private messenger is a great alternative to email, Skype, text messaging, and other forms of online communication.  You can chat with your Facebook friends but also with people who are not within your friend circle.  You also have the option to directly communicate with page and group admins using the messenger portion.  You can send files, photos, videos, and links using the messenger.  You can also create group chats, video chats, and photo chats.  Facebook messenger also logs all of your conversations.
